Zum Speiseplan des Insekts gehören hauptsächlich Baumsaft und Früchte. Im Sommer wird der Käfer nach dem Verpuppungsstadium aktiv. Aufgrund seines imposanten Aussehens und seiner Stärke wird er oft als König der Insekten bezeichnet.
