Una farfalla in cui la pagina superiore delle ali del maschio ha un fondo bruno intenso con un marcato riflesso metallico viola che varia in base alla luce. La femmina, invece, ha un riflesso viola quasi assente e sfoggia netti motivi marroni e bianchi. Le sue ali anteriori sono tagliate da una larga banda bianca orizzontale e presentano punti bianchi sulle punte. Il margine esterno delle ali posteriori è segnato da motivi ocellari di colore arancio.
A butterfly with the upper side of the male's wings that has a dark brown background with a strong metallic purple that shines depending on the angle. The female has almost no purple sheen and distinct brown and white patterns. The forewings have a thick white horizontal stripe, and there are white spots at the tips of the wings. The outer edge of the hindwings has orange eye-shaped patterns.
