首回りに大きな扇状の襟飾りを広げることができる爬虫類で、危険を感じると襟飾りを広げて口を開き相手を威嚇する。長く細い体と強い足を持ち、木と土の上を素早く移動できる。昆虫や小さな動物を食べ、乾燥した地域や森の外れに生息する。
