雄の翅の表面は黒褐色で、角度によって強い紫色の光沢が輝く。雌は紫色の光沢がほとんどなく、茶色と白色の模様がはっきりとしている。前翅には太い白のラインが横切り、翅の端には白い斑点がある。後翅の外縁にはオレンジ色の眼状斑が並ぶ。
A butterfly with the upper side of the male's wings that has a dark brown background with a strong metallic purple that shines depending on the angle. The female has almost no purple sheen and distinct brown and white patterns. The forewings have a thick white horizontal stripe, and there are white spots at the tips of the wings. The outer edge of the hindwings has orange eye-shaped patterns.
