구슬 같은 검은색과 주황색 비늘로 뒤덮인 도마뱀. 육상에서 주로 생활한다. 주요 서식지는 건조한 사막 지대로, 더위를 피하기 위해 하루 대부분 시간을 굴속에서 보낸다. 독이 있긴 하지만 사냥용이 아니라 방어용이며, 이빨에 난 작은 홈을 통해 적에게 주입한다.
The heloderma lizard is a large, venomous lizard with black and orange bead-like scales.
