나비와 비슷한 형태지만, 대체로 밤에 활동하며 체모가 더 풍부하다. 날개 색은 대체로 갈색, 회색 계열이 많아 보호색 역할을 한다. 빛에 쉽게 이끌려 등불 주변에 모이며, 애벌레 시기에는 잎이나 농작물 등을 먹어 피해를 주기도 한다.
Although similar in shape to butterflies, they are generally active at night and have a hairier body. Their wings are usually brown or gray, serving as camouflage. They are easily attracted to light and often gather around lamps. During the larval stage, they feed on leaves and farming crops, sometimes causing damage.
