지정타 잎의 독특한 무늬와 형태를 그대로 닮은 등껍질을 가진 작은 풍뎅이이다. 몸길이는 손톱만 하며, 지정타 잎 무더기 속에 숨어 있으면 거의 구별하기 어렵다. 이 모방 무늬는 천적의 눈을 피하기 위한 위장 수단으로 사용되며, 위협을 느끼면 잎을 따라 고요히 움직임을 멈춘다.
