수컷의 날개 윗면은 남청색 바탕에 검은색 테두리가 있고, 앞날개 외곽에는 주황색 반점이 줄지어 있다. 뒷날개에는 두 개의 뚜렷한 눈 모양 반점이 있다. 암컷은 전체적으로 갈색 기운이 더 강하고, 청색 부분이 줄어든다.
