OVERVIEW
Gold bars are the highest denomination of currency in Crimson Desert, worth 500 silver each. Getting one early is crucial because you need a gold bar to open a bank account — and the bank is one of the best ways to grow your wealth through interest.
The good news: there's a free gold bar hiding in Lioncrest Manor, just a short walk northwest of Hernand town. You can grab it as early as Chapter 1.
WHERE TO FIND THE GOLD BAR
Location: Lioncrest Manor, northwest of Hernand town.
The manor is a large building visible on the map just north of the starting city. The front entrance is guarded and you can't walk in normally.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
- Travel to Lioncrest Manor — Head northwest from Hernand town. The manor is a short ride on horseback.
- Go around to the back — The front door guards won't let you in. Circle around to the rear of the building.
- Climb the wall — On the right side of the back door, climb up the wall using the handholds.
- Enter through the window — Open one of the upper windows to slip inside.
- Head downstairs — Go down to the ground floor where the main hall is.
- Find the fireplace — Look for the large fireplace with a lion's head above it.
- Equip your mask — You need to be wearing the mask before the steal option appears.
- Use your lantern — Hold out your lantern (CTRL / LB) and point it at the fireplace. A "Steal" prompt will appear.
- Take the gold bar — Interact with the hidden compartment beneath the mantelpiece to pull out the gold bar.
IMPORTANT TIPS
Timing matters — Visit during the DAY. At night, both guards and nobles patrol the interior, making it much harder to steal unnoticed. During the day, only guards are present.
Complete Bruna's Request first — If you see 3 NPCs standing in front of the fireplace, you haven't completed the side quest "Bruna's Request" yet. Finish it first and those NPCs will despawn, leaving only 2 guards to deal with.
Wait for the guard to leave — Watch the guard patrol pattern on the first floor. When the guard walks into the hallway next to the fireplace, immediately steal the gold bar.
Getting caught isn't the end — If a guard spots you, you'll be thrown in jail and fined some silver. However, you WON'T lose the gold bar you already picked up. So even a failed attempt still nets you the gold.
The gold bar respawns — After a set number of in-game days, the gold bar reappears in the same spot. You can return and steal it again whenever you need cash.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE GOLD BAR
Open a Bank Account
- Go to the bank in Hernand town.
- Pay 100 silver to register an account.
- Deposit the gold bar.
- Your deposited gold earns interest over time — passive income!
NEVER sell gold bars to merchants — they only give you 190 silver. Always exchange at the bank for the full 500 silver value.

- - Rob the bank storeroom — A separate, riskier heist inside the Hernand bank itself
- - Archery minigame — Test your aim for silver rewards
- - Diamond mine — Raid an early mine for valuable ore
- - Five-Card exploit — At launch, the card minigame can be exploited for infinite money (may be patched)
- - Mining silver ore — Find caves behind waterfalls (use stab attack to push through) for silver ore deposits
