This guide covers mount types, core stats, all three legendary horses (locations, stats, and taming tips), and stable management.
Mount Types

Crimson Desert features several rideable creature types:
| Type | Examples | Traits |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Horse | Herspia, etc. | Starting mount after prologue; modest stats |
| Legendary Horse | Royler, Rokade, Camora | Hidden across the map; far superior stats |
| Bear | Black Bear, Claw Bear | High HP + Attack; combat-oriented |
| Boar | Black-Maned Boar | Mid-range stats; available early |
| Buffalo / Bull | Water Buffalo, Bull | High HP, slow speed |
| Camel | Camel | Desert-area mount |
| Dragon | Blackstar, etc. | Endgame flying mount; highest stats |
Tip: Your starting horse Herspia has limited stamina and speed. Prioritize taming a legendary horse as soon as possible for a massive quality-of-life upgrade.
Core Stats (6 Attributes)
Every mount has these six attributes:
| Stat | Description |
|---|---|
| Health | Damage the mount can take in combat |
| Stamina | Sustains sprinting; must stop to recover when depleted |
| Attack | Damage dealt when charging into enemies |
| Defense | Damage reduction when hit |
| Movement Speed | Top running speed (Lv.1-Lv.4) |
| Acceleration | How fast the mount reaches top speed (Lv.1-Lv.3) |

| Rokade | Black | Health + Defense (tank) | Steel Mountains - Grace Estate | Medium |
| Camora | Red-brown | Attack + Defense (fighter) | Tashkalp - Redtree Forest | Long trek |
Stat Comparison
| Stat | Royler (White) | Rokade (Black) | Camora (Red) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Health | 590 | 840 | 690 |
| Stamina | 390 | 315 | 315 |

| Movement Speed | Lv.4 | Lv.3 | Lv.3 |

Royler β The Speed King

Royler is the best all-round exploration mount in the game. With the highest stamina (390) and top movement speed (Lv.4), you can gallop across the map for extended periods without stopping. Switching from Herspia to Royler is a night-and-day improvement.
Location

Royler spawns in the Pailune region, specifically in the Silverwolf Mountains near the Snowgrass Hearth camp, by a small frozen lake.

Quick guide: Open your world map and find "Pailune". Look directly south of the letter P for a small lake. Royler grazes there with 3-4 normal horses β it's the only white one.
Warning: The Silverwolf Mountains are a cold zone that drains stamina faster. Equip a Cold-Resist Cloak and invest at least Stamina Lv.6 before attempting to tame. Watch out for bear camps along the route.
Stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 590 |
| Stamina | 390 (highest of all mounts) |
| Attack | 23 |
| Defense | 72 |
| Movement Speed | Lv.4 (highest) |
| Acceleration | Lv.3 |
Skill Progression
| Level | Skills | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Lv.2 | Sprint / Double Jump | Basic mobility |
| Lv.3 | Drift / Quick Start / Instant Accel | Major speed boost during drift |
| Lv.4 | Gallop | Reach top speed |
| Lv.5 | Chain Instant Accel | Re-trigger accel during accel |
| Lv.5 | Water Gallop / Swim III | Brief water surface running |

Rating: 5/5 β If you can only tame one legendary horse, make it Royler. The speed and stamina combo fundamentally transforms your exploration experience.
Rokade β The Indestructible Warhorse
Rokade is a massive black horse with the highest mount HP in the game (840). You can charge straight into enemy camps without worrying about your mount being killed.
Location

Rokade is found in the southern Steel Mountains, near Grace Estate, by the lake next to the Spire of Insight.

The area is temperate β no special gear required. There are enemy camps nearby; clear them first. If Rokade isn't visible, walk 200-300 meters away and return to trigger a respawn.
Identification: It's the only black horse in the herd, noticeably larger than the rest.
Stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 840 (highest of all mounts) |
| Stamina | 315 |
| Attack | 26 |
| Defense | 120 |
| Movement Speed | Lv.3 |
| Acceleration | Lv.2 |

Rating: 4/5 β Best combat mount. Pair Royler (exploration) + Rokade (combat) for the classic dual-horse setup.
Camora β The Offensive Warhorse
Camora is a red-brown legendary horse with the highest attack and defense (Attack 33, Defense 120). It actively contributes damage during mounted combat β a true battle partner.
Location

Camora hides in the eastern Tashkalp region, deep in the Redtree Forest. This is the farthest location from the starting area, making it the hardest legendary horse to reach.

The area runs hot β equip a Heat-Resist Cloak to maintain stamina during taming. If it's not there, walk away and return to trigger respawn.
Identification: The only red-brown horse in the herd.
Stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 690 |
| Stamina | 315 |
| Attack | 33 (highest of all mounts) |
| Defense | 120 |
| Movement Speed | Lv.3 |
| Acceleration | Lv.2 |

Rating: 4/5 β Best acquired later. Once you have Royler and Rokade, Camora rounds out your offense.
How to Tame

The game doesn't provide a taming tutorial. Here's the full process:
- Approach the horse β Crouch and slowly approach (safer for legendary horses), or sprint and jump on
- Mount up β PC: press E, PS5: press square, Xbox: press X
- Taming minigame starts β A circular/lasso progress bar appears; fill it completely
- Counterbalance β Push the left stick (or direction keys) opposite to the horse's head. Easiest method: hold S (or push stick down) while pointing your camera at the horse's rear
- Maintain balance β The horse bucks violently; continuously adjust direction. Falling off lets you retry
Key Taming Tips
- - Stamina is everything: Legendary horses take far longer to tame than normal ones, draining significant stamina. Invest at least 4-6 points in Stamina
- - Environmental protection: Royler = snow (Cold-Resist Cloak), Camora = hot zone (Heat-Resist Cloak), Rokade = temperate (no special gear)
- - Choose "Send to Stable" after taming instead of riding away β this grants a bonus set of horse gear
Stable Management

Tamed mounts can be managed at Stables:
- - Switch mounts: Swap your active ride at any stable
- - Feed & care: Provide food to restore HP and stamina
- - Level up: Mounts gain levels through use and feeding, unlocking new skills
- - Equip gear: Fit your mount with horse armor, saddles, and horseshoes to boost stats
Recommended Acquisition Order
| Priority | Horse | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Royler | Closest, easy early access, highest speed/stamina β transforms exploration |
| 2nd | Rokade | Medium distance, highest HP/defense β combat confidence |
| 3rd | Camora | Farthest away, highest attack β best for late-game collection |
If you only have time for one, choose Royler without question. The speed and stamina advantage in such a vast open world is the most immediately impactful upgrade you can get.
